I awoke to the click of the door shutting
behind you.
Listening, I heard your car start...
the motor purring
in the early morning quiet,
before racing
to take you away
to the places you go
unknown to me.
Alone again..
Rising from my bed,
my feet touch the cold floor
then carry me to the door
through which you left me..
I part the curtain
and peer out
at the empty world.
Alone again..
I drift through familiar rooms,
then go back to my slumber
to dream of you..
In dreams,
we are young again
and you love me...

faded love

Love once in full flower ~ now faded.

~~

Years comfortably together

And still ~

Being apart brings such anguish.
