I had no previous invitation,
but a young giraffe suddenly leaned
and came down from the sky to visit with me.
Breathless, I was suddenly staring
through heavenly ponds of calm brown eyes,
adorned with meteoric eye lashes.
Its generous mouth examined me momentarily
with a hint of a humorous expression brimming at its sides.
Then disappeared, not as much as a whisper,
right next to the sun.

I was left alone at the feet of the living temple,
trying to learn from the curving of lands and islands,
all riding over warm and tremulous waves of invisible oceans,
but could not find a clue.
Streams of restrained strength standing tall in the sun,
now connected to another tower in nature,
fueling green leafs from one to another.

My impromptu interview now ended,
I knew it was time to retrieve myself
through the boxy vehicle,
back to my place.

This rises high!

I was in the scene, saw the soft eyes and gentle smile of this towering creature. I loved the visuals and the visit to the animal park. A fresh and unique write!

what a strange way with words - keep it up - I don't care if I get it, sometimes exotic is just good enough

just wanted to let you know...

that I read this one and thoroughly enjoyed it, but left no comment because my computer was not acting 'right"...so, here I am again to tell you, keep up the good work, your poems always inspire me and give me cause to think. This one was a bit different than the rest of your work and I was surprised ( pleasantly) at the subject matter, the title sent me in one direction and the outcome was/is very pleasing. You have a gentle soul, a good heart and a sharp mind.

hugs,

jean

Ouch!

My head still hearts, is that from the surgery or from the lack of sleep from my previous poem...

But don't send me to any happy home quite yet, I still know how to spell Mississippi backward; even diagnose symtoms of Tourette syndrom when I see them, that should count for something... :) Cheers!

I got it...

...and I loved it. It's personal for me, as I love a giraffe. You inspire me. Thanks.
