It was a little cocker spaniel dog in a crate
Now was that wrong? …not just illegal…
People have got to know whether… their president is a crook
We were assured it was true. It was not true.

Truth in drama is forever elusive. You never quite find it…
Until we drive the crooks… out of Washington.
Legal or illegal, that isn’t enough. We’ll I am not a crook.
We were assured it was true. It was not true.

Iraq possesses ballistic missiles with a… range of hundreds of miles --
Far enough to strike Saudi Arabia, Israel, Turkey and other nations -
Some of al Qaeda leaders had fled Afghanistan went to Iraq.
We were assured it was true. It was not true.

How can you write a happy play? Drama is about conflict…
Enjoy this self confidence. For we did not set out to punish you.
Yet I have always acted with the best interest of this country.
We were assured it was true. It was not true.

Great Cento!

You married the various pieces of this "found" poem together to great effect. That, and the very reporter-like read makes for a cohesive poem that packs a real punch! ~S.
