I cannot sleep, I cannot think.
My thoughts dwell on our time together.
Not on a physical meeting,
But on a meeting of the minds.

Words exchanged anonymously,
Without rancor, without limitation.
Phrases said in jest
But through which truth permeates.
Getting to know you.
Wondering. Exploring. Discovering.
Wanting you to know me
As I truly am.
Without reserve or restraint.

This yearning causes confusion.
Wanting to journey further,
But, not knowing where the path will lead.
Expressing oneself opens the door to hurt.
Humiliation. Embarrassment. Rejection. Loss.
Your words let me know
My fears are unfounded.
My tendency to retreat is stifled
By your unwavering belief in this connection.

Help me to understand without question
What this time together means.
Help me to accept it for what it is,
So I do not unwittingly glorify or desecrate it.
Help me to live in this moment,
Without thought of tomorrow.
