The song that keeps me going is ‘I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.’ Made famous by U2, but there are plenty of fantastic cover versions, which all seem to add to the song and resonate with me.

My first wife was lost at sea off the coast of South Africa. It happened during a yacht race from Durban to East London in 1984. The boat was hit by a hurricane and all five crew and the boat were never found or recovered. We’d been married three years and were both 26.

The event shaped my life. And I ‘put on a brave face’ and got on with things.

I remarried in the 90s. Had two daughters and enjoyed life. Grew apart from my second wife and we cohabitated as the intimacy waned.

I chose to separate after 29 years in July 2020. Sadly, my wife passed away in February 2023.

I’m in a relationship again, but my zest for life is great and I want more.
