Grew up in small towns, spent a few years in cities, it was never a fit. Made a living writing, selling and teaching software. Did 10 years as a road warrior. I live in a small northern town and love it. I'm the only liberal for miles, which can be interesting. Was married for 4 years, like a tight shirt, it just did not fit. I've loved two, lived with half a dozen and respected them all.
