I choose not to be shallow. I've just been working in the media for a long time and see a lot of shallowness and I abhor it. The social tightrope that black women have to walk to avoid criticism is absurd. It's still difficult to fully comprehend the way that privilege has set up a double standard that is so infuriating and disheartening to people of color.
