I use language all day every day, in different contexts and for different audiences so I have a pretty wide range of stuff that I have to read (and understand unfortunately) so I feel fairly comfortable in saying that I can take what someone has actually written down, appreciate what it was they were trying to say and then suggest edits that make it understandable but without changing what the author was trying to express. I also spent a period of time doing formal proof reading of documents whilst at University. UK English is my language so I will see both text and grammatical construction from that point of view. I have read a fair amount of American stories on here and I feel that I can appreciate most (but possibly not all) of the subtleties of difference. Happy to give it a go and see if I can help anyone.
