Breaker box shorting in the wetwall
Throwing sparks and confusion both
As the darkness cascades

Power lines crossed and mixing
Creating disorder all around
And torpor in black

Long repairs stalled by misdiagnosis
And conflicting opinions on course
While afflicting loss

Slow return to days of little light
Of a few rooms restored to order
Which grooms pain

Tragically beautiful

The chaos and incompetence come across clearly. A clever, well written poem

Nicely done, wakingDown. Sets the tone from the get go with a strong visual in the first line. Gives the reader a wide swath but in a direction you'd want him/her to go.

This resonates with me more than you may know. That I think it does with many others as well makes it a powerful poem and gets beyond self-pity. If it didn't accomplish that, it would have been nothing more than another "poor me poem." It wasn't.
