Discarded memories
of love once lost
an unquenched thirst

A haunting past
lingering wants
eyes burned by tears

Guilt
betrayal and lust
torturous retentions

half a shell
the yolk long gone
left with the pieces
abandon

Make it stop
it takes but a smile
a hopeful glimpse

A chance lost

Embers wasted
an opportunity dismissed
eternal regret

Foreboding darkness
silence surrounds
sanctity

Good-bye my love
Heaven awaits

Pain, cold pain

Been there? Tell me then, and thus a cold laugh emerges, to the man who knows not, and recognition to one who understands of what it means to see, see in it's fullness the pain, so deep it cuts, cuts burning quite unlike anything ever felt, tell me then, tell me, why love hurts?

Love lost ~ never to be regained this side of Heaven.

A tough little read as it all slips away.

Evocative!

You're a real talent, dearest. I completely 'get' that feeling of missed opportunity, of elusive possibilities that come and go, or are denied. You captured it beautifully here.

Nice...

...read from a poet who has been posting lately and seems not only serious about it but determined to have a voice, and that voice seems to me to be growing stronger with each poem.
