the cat yowled piteously
Boom went the cracker !
'twas Diwali night
Fireworks burst round'n about
cat looked @ Owner
You're the Human : You fix problems
Stop the damn noise : my ears hurt
the man could only cuddle his pet impotently
he was powerless to stop a Social Festival --Boom

the dog was writhin' in agony --his kidney-stones
actin' up
he looked up @ his beloved Family trustfully
You are All-Powerful Humans
now stop the Pain
it is killin' me
shall i repeat it again ????
the Family could do nothing
late @ night : all vets were closed
next day Jojo gave up the fight ......

the she-Elephant was in death throes
she did'nt know why ?!?
all she wanted was normalcy
& not to die
she clutched the glass bangles on
her mistress's wizened arms & plaitively
squeezed one last Gasp !
the glass broke & her mistress bled
she-Elephant died ......

Man is a glorified animal
not Omnipotent God
but loving animals trust them to be
All-Powerful but when push cometh
to shove : Man is cruelly exposed
to be an impotent beggar
masqueradin' as God !?!?!

I think about the horses, the barn cats, our home cats and our dog - and in many ways my wife and I are godlike to them. very imperfect gods but nourishing gods. Makes me wonder about our gods...
