The night itself was frozen from the cold
the lights of heaven glittered hard as glass
the wind blew gusts that filled the mountain pass
while up above the moon shown icy gold

when Anna stepped out of her cottage door
and clutched her hooded cloak with frozen hand
she gazed with trembling lips on frozen lands
as Winter rolled his vengeance cross the moor.

She gazed up at the Moon with tearful eye
then fell upon her knees with hanging head.
"This night shall never see me in my bed
until I've solved the mystery that is nigh."

The Goddess, gazing down, said "Anna, dear!
This land is aching lacking just one thing ~
It wants to hear again the poets sing!
So rise up, Anna! Wipe away the tear!"

Now Anna did rise up and standing tall
spread open her dark cape like Raven's wings
and shaking out the hair that fell in rings
while Mother Earth laid silent in her pall

she took a step and swiftly took another
while reaching in her heart for words that swirled
she spoke aloud and as she did she twirled
and bent and touched her fingers to The Mother.

The words began as whispers softly sung
and soon a bit of flower did appear
A drop fell from a tree limb as a tear
and ice fell crashing from the place it clung.

Anna swirled now faster round and round
and every word she spoke was rich in tone
so singing louder she began to hone
her rhymes that chased Ol' Winter to the ground.

She danced from tree to shrub; from hill to vale
Swirling spinning dancing her delight!
and everywhere she stepped it was a sight
to see the green return in dead of night.

Throughtout the night and into dawn she'd chant
her words as music to the stars above
and chosen by her as an act of love
and everywhere she'd stepped her love she'd plant.

The cold retreated, gently giving way
to Spring who rushed in laughing, finally free!
And Anna looked as far as she could see
and knew her rhymes created this new day!

She looked up to the moon and made a vow
that nevermore her silence would she keep
but share her words for all to laugh and weep
With one last swirl she said "I'll start right now!"

Miracle lady.

A lady who through perseverance turned Winter into Spring. Beautiful fanciful rendering. Very enjoyable.

Do I sense a bit of a seductive pitch aimed at a certain Anna,

Attempting to seduce words from her fertile mind?

Such a lovely poem! I am impressed with the form and think it should be called "My Gift"

:)

I'm glad....

I read this longer one. The 1st of March I'm going to

stand in my backyard, in my drawers with cold beer and yell

mindless beach poetry untill my nipples get frozen. Then

I'll go inside and cuss you. This is a neat work and

I wish poetry still had the power it implies.
