After all this
I would have rather
Give all my wisdom
For a moment
To love with out pain
In the waking wake
Tired and tried
Of all the betrayal
Just one night
Or a fleeting moment
Here to peer to peer
Within ourselves
With out the fear
Free of the pain
Seeded in my past
A bright trail
Of friendly reminders
Ah yes to trust again
A hem resewn on its seems
It’s nice sometimes
To have impossible dreams

I leave it to shadows
To brighten my day
I cast my name into darkness
Waiting for their quiet answer
As in life as in light
I step forward
Unloving until
I can think to myself
Keeping safe all those
Broken bits of me I still have left
I arrange them in pretty pieces
Snuggle close to them at night
Holding love in my hand
And pictures in my head
My nest lined
With fine bits of finery
Paper, clothes, rags
Old unused photos
Discarded fantasies
Unlived dreams
Maybe
With some glue and scissors
I can rebuild
And make them better
