**for David**

Your arms wrap around me,
Hands woven in with mine
No breaks in the connections
Endless moments making time

Twenty-seven evenings of movements
Bring caesura of moonless night
Oceans travel between far-flung beaches
Guided by distant benevolent light

We spin out on the downbeat
Our familiar melody found
Twirling in once more, laughing
When the upbeat rolls around

Shuffling feet somewhat uncertain
Trying to puzzle their way through
Stamping out familiar rhythms
This same dance we always do

Fiery light ends again its usual path
Always beginning the pattern anew
My life and lyrics follow many cycles
But they begin and end in you.
