Raspberry wine
And spiced rum
A new old lover
For a new year
These ghosts of loves past
And even auld langsyne
Made glorious summer
By this sweet sweet testament
So I don’t see my lonely shadow
Lurking there by the coat rack

I’ve drunk enough
To finally be free
Of you babe
And from here
I see our memories
Anesthesitised as a decaying tooth
I can smile at the pain
Knowing the knife hurts to heal
And someday even the scars
Will fade into a soft light spot.

But for now I take my medicine
Rum I have spiced
With my own witcheries
Just in case I should meet
Carrefour at the crossroads
Wine as an offering to Kali
Both lover and destroyer
As a boy should always bring
A sexy girl something
For the second date.

As love’s deep liquor
Languor on my lips
I can recall another spirit
I drank between your hips
Holding close your secret secrets
Sweet to tongue and finger tips
So too do I now roll my tongue
I take my memory in savory sips
Between the cheeks and sheet sigh sights
In delicious delightful memoriam

The Delirious Iuhui
A shot of spiced smooth dark rum; aged with a vanilla bean and cardamom pod; Please use either Bacardi select or “black” or Appleton Estate.
Add a half glass of dark raspberry wine; I suggest “framboise” by Bonny Doon Vineyards.
Enjoy responsibly.

Evocative!

An ode to Loves now over and gone but the memories linger on providing a pleasant distraction. Beautiful in its simplicity.

Well Crafted! Enjoyable Read!

Women; Goddesses and the poet

The wines; the aromas the sensations; definitely the pain are all very real. But with lobomao the presence of the myth is just as real and therefore the prospect of meeting the awesome Kali the, Goddess which could bring death but also sustenance to those who trust her, make the existential pain both bearable and tremendously dangerous at the same time. The ambiguity carries of course to the theme of the woman image that may hurt but as Kali herself is essential to life. For sure, it turns the poem (as it usually does with this poet) to both educational and exciting travel into the depth of our own collective most evocative icons. .
