It's late at night and still the music throbs
Into the halls and empty rooms of grief.
She plays it loud enough to drown her sobs.
I'm leaving soon and so I make it brief.

The end is often longer than the start.
Our life was true but now has turned to strife.
Without good reason we have grown apart,
And that is why the love has left our life.

Her soul is still within my heart it's true
But she has left me long ago it seems.
And since she knows together we are through
The loss is now affecting both our dreams.

I won't allow myself to mourn the years
No matter what sad music shares her tears.
