I wake up in the morning with nothin' to lose,
Nothin' to lose 'cept them dope sick blues.
I know I'm alive by the poundin' in my head,
Sometimes I think I'd be better off dead.
Takes me an hour just to find my shoes,
But there ain't no walkin' off these Heroin blues.

Used to be my pockets full and my jacket clean,
But life on these streets makes a man get mean.
My life was my own, I was a man in control,
Somehow over time the Gorilla on my back began to grow.
Can't chase him away with pills or booze,
There's only one thing gonna chase these Heroin blues.

Repeat 1st verse.
