If I didn’t think he’d love me
I’d answer the questions in his eyes
satisfy the need building
just below the surface
and respond softly
with body language of yes
but the seriousness of no
bites my tongue
and reminds me I cannot easily
because, after all
I could
if I didn’t think
he’d love me

There's a certain circularity in the thinking here — the kind that drives men to drink.

I should be kicked..

because I thought this was hot. "Bites my tongue" is a great line. It is so ambiguous I wonder if you bite your tongue to hold back, or he bites your tongue to make you give in. I love that it works both ways. Golden.
