She tells me of the snow plow
How it came through her windshield
Faster than an air bag
Or her fading consciousness
And after that there was nothing
An open ended ellipsis of lapses
Everything after else
Told in snipped up snapshots
Which if held together
Tell the tell-tale tale
Of mismatched matte lines
Or continuous continuity errors
As a shadow advances and retreats
In the same remains of an afternoon

She treads carefully in an open abandon
Trusting forward as guarded as a garden
As nerves may move to repair themselves
In those stained glass post trauma days
When slight touches of silk or velvet
Brings pain where once was pleasure
Sudden sights of lace strikes an eye
And the heart cries in silence
Even so and so we are driven forward
Moving lightly slightly across a scar
Until feelings return in pining pin needles
As spring to a summer garden
Re-remembered throughout winter
As a distant and oncoming dream

Her healed scars have become a map
Across a distant desert growing closer
Longing long and low in crossing
An areal humming bird humming
In inscribed spirals curve curling
Over and over fertile amber plains
A Telling tale in leading lines
That much closer in; closer to home
This dreamed of undiscovered territory
As open as the Mohave waiting for rain
Calling its heartfelt call for a right night wind
To breeze along bringing a dark deep kiss
With it a promise of coming moisture
Whetting lips growing appetite of night

I am almost amazed by her brilliance
Her careful courage of a moment
Taking time to fully enjoy the ride
Rather than barrel down mountainside
Ass over teakettle and down and down
As any fool can fall but a few can land
Arriving finally in all delicious savory flavors
Of an entire time enjoyed in full
Each small morsel caught between her teeth
Lifted lofted caressed by clever tongues
Held in an al dente accelerando fermata
As in the event of horizon waiting
In advance of an advancing storm
Or that brief forever before a kiss

Dense and a read aloud sort of poem to best savor it. And if the words trip up your tongue, go back and start again aloud until you get it right.
