It runs through Hawaii, and they wonder why we pretend it’s in some other state.
Should you take a notion to drive through the ocean, there’s something you learn pretty quick,
You just cannot do it; you surely will rue it, the day you attempt such a trick.
The mighty Pacific is truly terrific; it’s three thousand miles, maybe more
Till you reach the mainland, the almost insane land, the great Golden State’s sunny shore
No way can you drive it; you will not survive it, for just a few feet from the start
You sink ‘neath the water, aware that you oughter, have taken a plane or a yacht.
So why? you may wonder, could it be a blunder? The name is an odd one, you know.
I think the Hawaiian is probably tryin’ to get some of Uncle Sam’s dough.
Cuz only, I’m betting, is it for the getting if you build an interstate road.
And that’s what I’m blaming for that funny naming, the money that would be bestowed.
