Life.

The young man saw a future bright
And swore that he would get it right
And he tried.

The married man saw things not so good
Not going quite the way they should
And he sighed.

The divorced man saw the years had gone
And wondered how he'd got it wrong
And he cried.

The old man saw he'd been defeated
His lifetime's efforts all deleted
And he died.

Depressing.

It may be true but still depressing. Sorry.

The old man

left some poetry and more than a few erotic stories.

Defeated? Not so much.

Something about this reminded me of that Loudon Wainwright song, "Your Mother and I."

Happy New Year!
