Nameless souls
packed like sardines
in an unfamiliar room.
Separated from their family
from their loves,
their lives.

The city destroyed
underneath mucky
water that washed away
it's beauty like a tsunami
drowning an American paradise.

Hopes to start over
continue in their hearts
and souls.
One day the city will
live again.
The sound of jazz
Will blare loudly
like a foghorn
for millions to hear.

Nice visuals and descriptive uses here. I would use a little more structure to the work. Peroids, commas semi colons etc to strength the message. Powerful in it own right this small change will intensify the energy and sadness that is laced with a ray of hope.
