Head spins
Grins evaporate
as drinks are downed
whirling round and round
my head shifts
drifts into a state
somewhere between
New Orleans
and Hiroshima
total devastation
of life recognizable
turmoil and tragedy
guts knotted and pulled tight
the black of night
is the only absolution I find
from the smells and sounds
belching forth from the bowels
of this perdition I call love
