Layers of looks
Some smiling, some sad
Eyes shining or tearing
Sometimes distant,
sometimes piercing

Years of growth
A hopeful spirit,
a soul that’s searching
Confident and steady
or hesitant and lurching

Time passes quickly
Grasping for life’s lessons
Reaching and yearning
Life’s experiences hard and soft
but there for the learning

I couldn’t be prouder
As I’ve seen you blossom
into the woman you are
Strong and surefooted
That strength deeply rooted

Now you walk your own path
But the hole caused by your absence
Is filled by the memory of you
My student, my teacher
My daughter, my treasure

Heartfelt

..and heart wrenching. Interesting format with some intermittent rhyming but it doesn't spoil the over-all effect, in my opinion.

Nicely done.

Tears!

I am leaking here. I have tried to avoid thinking that in a few short years my best friend will leave me, too. Wonderful words. Thanks for the cry.
