she watches from her
window as the darkness claims the night
and rain begins to fall
drops leave shining reminders on the glass
and she returns to herself ~
to who she was then

memory, stinging strong
she hears his whisper
feels his hand warm and strong
upon her shoulder
she turns ~ she breathes
and her eyes
fall into his
they dance there, in the rain
his fingers, candles, lighting
fire on her skin ~ leaving embers in her
mind when the dance is done
he leans into her then
and brushes the hair from her face
then speaks to her of fear
she was trusting though
and fearless
she gives herself to him
but his music has ended,
and he cannot dance

and she, alone now
matches the rain with tears.
