Missing you is like the night
Dark, biting and cold
Missing you is like missing myself
Brash, daring and bold

Missing you is the desert at noon
Hot, vicious and wild
Missing you is you is always wishing
That I could see you smile

Missing you can break my heart
Faster than my will
Missing you shall tear me apart
Longing for you, still

Missing you is so much in my mind
That I cannot stop the dreams
Missing you is waking to tears
Threatening to scream

Missing you is to ache
Waves racing into the sands
Missing you is to imagine myself
Beneath your tongue,
your lips,
your hands

Missing you leaves me shaking,
Alone, untouched and wet
Missing you is to know
For your body, there is
and never shall be
Any suitable surrogate

Missing you leaves me weak
Reaching for the phone
Begging, pleading, demanding myself
To leave well enough alone

Missing you never leaves my mind
Even when I sleep
Dreams of being held by you
Writhing in your sheets

Missing you cannot erase
Our past nor write our tomorrow
Missing you will break my soul
Bathing me in sorrow

Missing you is the spark of hope
That there is an end to the silence
Missing you leaves me hesitant and unsure
Wrapped in a heartsick blindness

Missing you will end someday
By luck or design
All will mend or break
And this moment’s hurt
Be lost
To the sands of time

Until we are at peace
Distant, polite strangers no longer
Allow me to say
I would rather be
Weak in your arms
Than alone but so much stronger
