Click hereYour love is a garden
My love is a gate
Your love lies fallow
Roots clinging to earth too shallow
I thought I found a key
Even knowing you couldn’t be true
But I loved your love, a bright bunch of fragile flowers
You gave me such hope for a few blissed summer hours
Your love is a garden
Looking for peace in pieces
Exploding into full bloom and going quietly to seed
Leaving me behind, confused, with only stems to grieve
My sunflower man, so tall, so thin, so strong, so fragile
Swaying drunkenly in life’s wind and rain
Great shaggy head seeking peace in yellow light
Burning yourself to seeds with all your might
You’re so beautiful in your transient way
Day before darkness, and back again
You seek, you want, you give, you need
Generous and innocently selfish in your greed
Your love is a garden
Beautiful but fickle, like fate
My love is old, sad, sturdy, and fierce
My love is a gate.
one line I would work on..."because you give over without a fight." The rhyme seems a bit forced and "give over" is confusing...do you mean "fall over"?
Thanks for making my morning!!
