to once again chase breakers
in the gleam of salty baptism

sea blessing your presence

currents and power pockets
whipping breakers
to tumble

filling
our five meter haven
with the symphony
of creaking boards

just us two
but no crowd wished
when half of that pair
slicks her sea-stained
wetness to hug
at previously hinted
heaven now revealed

sea blessing our presence

so we take in sail,
anchor or drift,
spreading lifejackets
like a canvas

the painting of us

filling
our five meter haven
with the symphony
of creaking boards
again

Oh! I know the feeling.

Sailing, or just wallowing on calm seas, with a wooden boat talking to you. Their character is so much stronger than those fiberglass fillies.

This poem says it all and more.

Wow-

This has such a wonderful wet and loving feel. I love the symphony of creaking boards. Bravo.

Thank you for the correction...

that line sounded a bit odd, in an excellent poem. I was reminded of Ariel's song... "Full fathom five..." An interesting look at a cold, wet time...
