she stalks the night
lurking in shadows
burning hot in the cold
night rider

she screams rage at the skies
as others live the life
she desires but is denied
night screamer

until the darkness has passed
and the stars begin to fade
and she knows it is almost time
night howler

so she lingers at dawn
luminescent and breathless
tense with anticipation
night haunter

but as his golden hair
touches the midnight blue sky
she shies back from the light
night shadow

their eyes meet
as their hands never will
across a distant horizon
night rider

ages ago, with a look,
they both learned their fate
to love, but not to have
night dweller

and so she must flee before him
weeping for their pain
as he hopelessly whispers her name
daylover
