Click hereSo she made love to another girl
And had to call me up to tell
“you left me, babe, I don’t wanna hear”
I said admiring the view from hell
Her new boy friend is an ass
She calls me to complain
I say I said I told you so
You have yourself to blame
Yet there she is with him and her
And me I am ever alone
I cannot in truth stop loving her
And she still calls me on the phone
I give my fool heart counsel
Although it ever leads to sorrow
My damnation in abandonment
I hope for heaven tomorrow
We live our hells here in our lives
Also our heavens too
I always thought to live my dreams
While watching also what I do
But none of that seems to matter
I have my part to play
My heart led to a city of suffering
So that is where I stay
Betwixt choice and chance
Of cruel destiny I complain
I say I said I told you so
I have myself to blame
Your heart may lead you many ways
But give counsel to your head as well
For it may be you follow your heart
To a cozy room in hell.
Again, I get what I come to recognize as this poet’s signature: the mix of educated wisdom together with the perfectly messy turmoil of real life. Here it’s that of a man suffering for his love. I advised elsewhere to take consolation in the words of the poet L. Aragon (much more familiar from the song by Georges Brassens: “There are no happy loves”).
really stands out with illeration..very rich and buttery on the tongue..nice work..blue
I like the point that following your heart doesn't always lead you to a comfortable place. It's a shame it happens that way. Nice work mister :)
