There was a time
When my heart beat true
My life was filled with joy
The sky was a brighter shade of blue

There was a time
When I knew laughter
Mirth and happiness filled me days
Right to the rafters

Someone high up envied me
And the contentedness of my life.
So he decided to replace it all
With this endless strife.

Now all those days have passed
Leaving me only with sorrow
It takes me all my strength
To get up and face tomorrow

To shield myself from further pain
I have built walls around my core
You think you can hurt me?
Well, pain doesn't hurt any more.
