Chasing the clock
In shiny half hour coins
Stacked in stacks
I buy dreams piecemeal
In quills of quilted moments
Petty bargains
Haggled haggered
Poorly bought
Disarm the alarm
holding behind hands
off wall eyed clocks
Taking ticks
Shushing talks
Paying for discards
As soon as I embrace
The onrushing day
The lid heavy night
Laying here and here
I’d give anything
For one more dance
With you this last night
