Scrapbook memories haphazardly strewn
A photo, a scribbled date a doodled toon
Red eyes, wide smiles and awkward pose
Squashed between pages a faded rose

The youthful beauty of a forgotten you
Joy and heartache, embarrassment too
Flash and flare the utter surprise
Blush or glare it’s all in the eyes

“Strange girl,” you think, of forgotten style
Looking into the face and the odd little smile
The scrapbook randomly scribbled with rhymes
Takes a memoir’d trip into a long gone time

How can it be that you feel so old
It was not so long since you were that bold
Archived amongst friends you once new
Now clear photo’s of a once innocent you

Wow

Really nice prose, and all too true! We look back on youths days and wonder who were you?

A deeply resonating piece.

Thank you for sharing

Someone who can actually scan couplets - yay!!!!

And create a warmth of feeling that is not of the greetings card variety - a rather nice read - thank you Sweet O.
