Sometimes, I just want to feel special
For no other reason than because.
Not because it’s my birthday
Or because it’s a holiday,
Or because society dictates;
But special because it’s Tuesday,
And because I am just that important to you.
I want to feel like I matter every single day
Like my life isn’t being wasted
On giving out and not getting back.
I’m not asking for a ring
Or a promise.
But I’m asking for a whisper or a touch.
I’m asking to be loved so loudly that I hear it.
So strongly that I can feel it
Even when you’re not in the room.
Sometimes I just want to feel special
And sometimes, I just want to feel anything.
