It began with a name
a few words accompanying an address
and the first letter was written.

Clockwork
every week
same day
a letter in a mailbox
a friend in an envelope.

Time passed
items exchanged
thoughts shared
souls bared
IM sent.

Meeting
face-to-face
recognition
hug
meal shared
connection made.

Chats into the night
minds opened
inhibitions lost
new realms discovered.

Second meeting
street fair
apartment
soft conversation
gentle massage
touch
apparel shed
limbs restrained
pulls
gasps
kisses
connection solidified.

Repeat for months.

Stepping back
hug no kiss
difficult proximity.

Another.

Depression
stress
suicidal.

Consolation
sharing strength.

Confession
rejection
appreciation.

Surprises
racing in darkness
deep play
firm bondage
flogger falling anew.

Another another.

Moving on
great distance
still held close.

Picture on a wall
voice on Skype
still my best friend.

A very good intrepretation of an internet romance.

~~

Very effectively sparse tale told as a relationship develops and grows; becomes very bare-bones as it seems to cool, then becomes fuller as it becomes a stable though long-distance relationship. Nicely done.
