He smiles when he sees her.
It happens every day.
Silly little things she does,
just take his breath away.
He thinks about her often;
She's always on his mind.
Like a song stuck in his head,
The most memorable kind.
Each morning on the subway
She sits with braids and books
He longs for her to lift her head
And exchange startled looks.
He sits at a quiet distance
He will not speak to greet
Fears do shake his confidence
His tongue admits defeat
But...
He smiles when he sees her.
It happens every day.
Silly little things she does,
just take his breath away.
For my friend LaRascasse, Happy Birthday!
Very few birthday gifts mean as much to me as this one. Thanks for putting this much thought into it and writing such a lovely poem just for me.
