Fade back to black dress
Heady cabernet noir red hair
That far far off look in steely oaken eyes
A wistful wishing chancing chance
For a close slow shadow dance
Closer held hand to hand to heart
Feel the fine silk skin skein
Full and firm as an autumn empress
Resting hand poised between heaven
Rich rewards above below
Walk soft miles in the spaces there
Find a friendly fire in her heart
To warm mine in from rain and fog
Grapes grow about her reaching ropy vine
Caress careless and need deep in wine
She’s too sweet and sharp to be alone
Girls like that are never too far from home
She’ll kill you when she’s sweetly saying
My plate’s full, but thanks for playing
Yet yet still stills of her posted page by page
In the light we know time space of age
Like a star who’s sky I will never see
I have a letter written within withal
That autograph sincerity you get
When pen meets photograph
It is wish whisked off in camera flash
Make that wish and take that wish
Skip it like a stone across the waves
Storm drain blood is washed away
And we are left with emptiness
Even in our memories
As they wind down
Hold my hand: hold my sight
Red the color against black and white
And there she is again on carefree sand
Caught in time in tide twixt sea and land
Her smile the smile summer wishes winter away
I imagine her words as her fingers
Strong and quick to play
nearly tied my tongue in a few places but certainly a poem to read aloud to truly appreciate. nicely done
