Another haiku I wrote in the seventies, I've put both versions I wrote here.

The ice topped crag stands
Twisted pine shadows the slope
Soaring the hawk cries

The other version:

Ice topped the crag stands
The knotted pine shadows rock
Soaring the hawk cries

This/these were inspired by a horse back climb and hike up to Baldy peak in Eastern Arizona in 1964. I don't think it was Baldy that inspired this but one of the other peaks or rock formations in the distance seen through binoculars. I was 14 or so at the time and the memory of that camping trip sticks with me to this day. I wrote both these version when I was in my mid-twenties some time after I got out of the Army in the early seventies.
