Hey, did you hear that Sandra had a baby girl last year? She named her Polly.

Yeah, I had a Collie named Sandy once, and boy could he ever swim. One time he did ten laps in our swimming pool, even with all his fur.

Her feet are the daintiest things. They are so cute and chubby!

Hubby used to try and outswim him, one time it was a tie!

My son Ricky hasn't gotten used to her yet, you know he still thinks he is king!!

Thing is, this crazy pooch behaves like a real person! Next thing you know he'll be washing the dishes!

"Riches to rags"! I think he really likes Polly though, they even play in the sand!

And he sits on the sofa and pretends to read the newspaper. Even picks up the telephone when it rings!

Sings to her right before bedtime, and you wouldn't believe it, she looks straight at him!

Tim from down the road said he actually heard Sandy talking once. He was barking "roof, roof."

Ruth is her middle name by the way, isn't that pretty? Polly Ruth.

"Roof, Roof" meant he wanted my hubby to get off the roof!

Ruth is my last surviving aunt's name. She's 92 years old!

Told Tim to write down everything Sandy says, for his first book!

Look, we're having a little party to celebrate her "first words"...do you want to come?

Um, we're having a party to celebrate his "first words"...do you want to come?

WHAT??

WHAT??

I see a photograph of people talking ~ Everyone's mouth is open at once. The caption under the photo reads, "Whose listening!" Witty and clever rendering. True to life!

i dig it....

and though it has prose look, i can identify with what is going on this piece. I find the humor in the piece as many times in life, one can speak but never pay attention to anything. at times it has a confusing look that would definitely fit that type of thing. this kind of write fits with aspects of what i do......nice sack......don

Definition?

I'm not sure I have a definition for poetry (the stuff you use to make a poem?), but if I did it would emcompass 'The Fine Art of Listening'.

While not exactly "poetry" ...

... by my (admittedly skewed) definition, I like the duality -- and it rings SO, SO true to life. For that reason, I'm 5-bombing you. ~Imp

I disagree

with the last poster, because I understand the structure. Two conversations going on simultaneously and neither person listening. I liked it, myself.
