She was 96 I think...

No one dared ask
as royalty need not answer

I had my fancy white chair ready
since walking was a past skill
and the cane could be tiring

There, on her shimmering throne
she blessed my garden with her presence

Bleeding hearts wrote their last love letter
Oriental poppies exploded with vivid color
as my heart beat with the sheer joy of living

Her head nodded as roses curtsied in honor
Morning glories opened at the sight of her smile
knowing their lives were just as fleeting

I eagerly awaited her daily advice
Pruining, weeding, living and loving
Never tiring of her ancient wisdom

Then one day she was gone
The chair yearned for its mate
as I listened for her voice in the wind

The flowers knew-
Forget me nots hung limply in sorrow
Tulips unfurled their final glory

Yet light rain could not erase the memories
of her gentle touch
and a love for nature

The chair remains
a reminder of her soul

And the garden
my lovely garden

waits patiently

she will return...

Touching.

What an exquisite priviledge to share the sweet intimacy of the relationship of two people in a lovely garden. Like a painting you would enjoy ~ this sweet rendering is so rich in imagery. The affectionate feelings between the two people come shining through. Lovely - delicate - and simply beautiful!

Oh My ~

How very touching Sack. I love it. If read very slow it will linger on the mind for days. You paint this picture with such beauty and grace. I wanna hug you, and her. Hoping she has returned and you two are yet again ... peacefully happy ~

His love; she is remembered...

and her memory reflected in everything of beauty and grace in their garden. Sack, this was the gentlest piece of love lost, but still cherished poetry I have seen written here in a while. I will be wistfully sighing the rest of the evening now. Just beautiful! <smile>
