As the shackles melt away
a crippled wing unravels
lit by waning lunar reflection
like an exquisitely pleated fan
iridescent facets of reflected love
combine in a kaleidoscopic melee
Soon both wings emerge...
gaining their confidence
from a distant poignant cry
so alike yet so different
this second one, the he-bird
calling his new friend towards home
As the broken wing is strengthened
by their unspoken bond
only a miracle remains
in a heartbeat buoyancy returns
flight is restored
an arc of hope in the sky
following the plaintive chant
pipes of divine fulfillment
reeds of just forgotten dreams
Soon they are closer
telegraphic beckonings
toward the ever expanding dawn
ecstasy returns
as new found love
shivers in the rarefied air
One last look-
two birds in formation
their hearts beating together
as one
What a lovely way of referring to a couple: I loved this stanza:
One last look-
two birds in formation
their hearts beating together
as one
