Nearly one year has passed:
one year with no word –
not a single acknowledgement,
not a single sign.
We may no longer be together
but at least we had been friends,
yet now even that has been denied,
suddenly,
with no reason why.
I know you are okay,
for now,
which is what I most want to know,
but to learn that from Google
tears my heart and my mind to shreds,
for I believe I deserve better.
A letter or e-mail or even a voicemail –
all I ask is a simple sign
just to let me know you are well,
for while we are no longer together,
I still consider you a friend.
