Pirates and witches and soldiers and nuns
Dragons and robots and cowboys with guns,
Young ballerinas who curtsied so cute,
One little boy in a Spiderman suit,
Came to my door in their costumes so sweet.
I heard their voices call out “Trick-or-treat!”
Some thanked me nicely when I gave them stuff.
Some indicated it wasn’t enough.

Many years back, when I was a young boy,
This was a thing that I used to enjoy.
Going about to the homes in my town,
Dressed as a hobo or ghost or a clown.
Getting from people the treats that they had
Threatening them with a trick very bad.
This is a custom that seems, oh, so right,
Kids trick-or-treating on Halloween night.
