Click hereFrom lands of snow and tires
She came out of winter
Heartland of hearthfires
Unused startled amazed
By the crisp freshness
Of west coast winter greens
Mixed as a salad
Delicious new to every bite
Completely unprepared
She spoke as I drove her around
Hearing her hidden happinesses
Mostly moist miseries of home
Auburn eyes burning
With what I could not know
Knowing so little
Tears fell against cold rain
With that warm cool feel
Of our strange winters here
Her emerald mascara running
Tears trail tracking viridian
Swollen like banks
Of leaf littered creeks
In dark olives murky sages
Run and flow on roadside
With their dubious ongoing wisdom
In the running rain
I poured solutions
To her pour heart
Boxed together in buckets
Her misery and mine
As when in winter
The lakey roof leaks
You have the time
To up go and fix it
Forgetting my place
In this seat next to her
Her wants needs rather
The hush band mmhmm
Of winter snow blanks
Secrets kept under wraps
Where while you wait
For spring to come
Before you do any thing
She expected waiting
Silent cerulean blue
As seen in the stilling sky
Or perfect picture postcards
But here in my car
From a rain forest child
And eager growing lawns
She got viridian green
Loved this one...and understood too. "Rain Forest Child"...I liked that.
