Have You taken all You need from me
Stored it safely away
Are You ready now to cut me free,
Hoist sails, head into a new a day
As I sink like an anchor in Your wake

I gave freely, You were happy to take
I gave freely, You were happy to take
I sink You sail, I sink You sail,
Not a prayer of holding You back

Your hold is stocked with memories
In case of a rainy day
Your’re off on a voyage of discovery
Pillaging all You pass on the way
Leaving flotsam afloat in Your wake

They gave freely, You were happy to take
They gave freely, You were happy to take
They drown You dismissed, they drowned You dismissed
Not a prayer of calling You back

At the end of the world, with memories gone
You realize Your voyage’s cost
You search for a friend but find no one
Conquered all, yet You are lost
Not a soul left to mourn at Your wake
Not a soul left to mourn at Your wake

You've used the sailing metaphor to wonderful effect. I'd like to hear the music you'd set it to. Thanks for the lesson about watching your wake today. We never know what our passage will stir up and keeping an eye on what's behind is always a good idea.
