With head in hands I wait,
Love letters to arrive,
It's been more than two weeks,
I hurt with injured pride.

Once he wrote me daily,
And now I'm just old news,
He told me all the time,
That I'm his perfect muse.

Has his inspiration
Grown cold in just a year?
I thought I was special,
I'm not, holding back tears.

He said that he loved me,
That must have been a lie,
I long to hear from him,
I see his cheery smile.

Women don't forget men.
Their love lasts longer too,
We're just fleeting fodder
That men love to abuse.

I won't wait any more,
My pride informs me so.
Don't waste more time on him,
Stand tall and let him go.

Someone in your future,
This man goes in your past,
Perhaps this next lover,
Will be the one, your last.

Here's the mail carrier,
Twelve letters at one time!
He said they were misplaced,
I love him so, he's mine!

makes you have deep thoughts...

This ode really makes me think about life and connections made, started, continued and lost, let alone sent to the curb as a new model or event comes along. Fortunately, I am proud to say I have a connection with a lady friend for the past 30 years and while we sometime lose conductivity, it always seems to return even if we are miles apart. Interesting enough we can always depend on each other, but quite honestly and what I feel rather unique is we have never had sex with each other. Slept together, skinny dipped or lounged on a remote beach yes, a fantastic part of each others life. SORRY- I don't mean to steal Susan's thunder here and she is number uno in my book, but trying to show how deep her writings are with feeling : ) keep them coming ! the bird

Best time for love poetry

Love misplaced but never lost

Love forever true

Someone sends his deepest love

Meant for only you

I hope you find the love you need

One forever true

A man to stand close by your side

With love for only you

He can't be found on printed page

With arms that cannot hold

But standing ever by your side

With love forever bold

Things like this make me want to read your work.

A lovely little piece of verse that would fit nicely into a volume of "Poetic Works by Susan Jill Parker" that has a nice ring to it.
