What can we do?
What path can we take?
When we gaze upward to the night sky
What do we see?
The pale ghostlike moon and stars staring back
Drifting,
Waiting,
Watching
Us as we carry on with our daily lives.
We shift as they do
Back and forth
From night to day
And day right back to night.
They watch us, just a short while longer
Then they did in the summer.
They watch us
Fight and cry
Live and die.
They watch us choose our paths as we take in the icy tortured air of life.
What way do we go?
What path do we take?
Do we let life pass us by and not take any risk
Or do we go through life
Fighting
Crying
Kicking
Screaming
Gazing
Giving
Living
Dying
And clenching
Our teeth against all the pain, despair,
Hurt and
All the love and hate.
Which way do we go?
Which path do we take?
