"Fine, I need time to think it through and despite the fact you're my best friend, I need some time alone, or at least without conversation. Why don't I sit here and pretend to do some work, then if your M & D ask you can say we're working on something together, but we're sorting different bits before we bring it together."
"Ok, that sounds good, I'll go over to our room and do the same. Want to meet in say 45 minutes?"
"OK, but please if I need more time, you'll be alright?"
"Sure, no problem,"
Jane stretched her hand out and clasped Julie's, the friends came together in a hug then Jane left the room and closed the door. Julie stood, tears in her eyes and began to sob gently. Outside on the landing, Jane stood doing the same.
