'Better than OK,' I said. 'Can we do it again?'
'Why not?' she said.
We didn't do it again. Not right then, anyway. Louise snuggled into me, and we both drifted back off to sleep.
When I next woke, it was just after six. As quietly as possible, I crawled out of bed and went to find a loo. And then I sent my mother a text. I thought that she might be a bit concerned if she discovered that I wasn't in my bed. Then I went back to Louise's bed. That's when we did it a second time.
'Next summer ...,' Louise said, when we had come back down from the ceiling.
'Next summer?'
'Next summer ... we should organise a trip out to The Cape. Better late than never, eh?'
'Yes. Why not?' I said. 'Although I haven't the faintest idea where Allan Thomas and Chris Rossiter are these days.'
'Good,' Louise said. 'Let's keep it that way, shall we?'
