As for Donna and I, our marriage 'house' is stronger than ever. She still is determined to make it up to me. I still have trust issues, but I try not to bring it up to her. I check her emails and GPS logs, less frequently I admit, but thoroughly. I don't jump to any conclusions, and all aberrations have been false concerns, so far. She has a job, working at Children's Hospital, and she seems to like it and is doing very well. The money doesn't hurt, and the time spent hasn't interfered with our lives so far.

We have our dates, and I never forget how close we came to losing it all. I'll fight for our marriage, like a fucking cornered badger, and I'm still doing it. I make sure she knows how important she is, and we make sure to find 'us' time. It's working. Will I ever be able to stop checking on her, trust her completely? Perhaps in time. For now it's enough to know that she loves me, is in love with me, and is completely faithful. We're even talking about adding an extension to our 'house'. She's only 31 and working with children all the time has her talking about having another one. Frankly, I think it would do the opposite for me.

I'm inclined to go along, if it's what she wants. I wouldn't mind having a son. I'm also thinking of how to add a moat and a second set of gates to our 'house'. She says she wants it to be a mansion. I'm thinking more in line with a castle, 30 foot wall, six feet thick, and archer ports throughout. Pots of boiling oil on the ramparts ready to take out any invaders. Hopefully, I'll never need them, but never doubt, I'll fight and kill if necessary, for our marriage.

Speaking of which, it's been three months since anyone's heard from the bastard. Word on the street is that since he lost his job, his wife and his reputation, he's moved away. I happen to know that he never made it past the abandoned quarry eleven miles west of here. He never should have tried to contact my wife again. He was warned. I was very happy to hear his ex got remarried within a year after the divorce. I hate collateral damage.

As for Karen, we'll wait and see. If Jerome takes her back, and she behaves, maybe I'll let it go. Like I said, I like Jerome, always have. If she doesn't?

I'm patient.

============================

Thanks for taking the time to read this little tale. I know, I've got a string of pretty dark stories lately. Emptying my writing folder of several that have accumulated over the last year. They're not all like this, I promise.

Beating up your partner and threatening to murder them if they leave isn't love. It's crazy watching the sociopaths coming out of the woodwork to defend the actions of the MC. I'd say I'm surprised, but this is the LW category, and most of the commentors could be mistaken for members of the Taliban.

A 16 year career that ended 8 years ago.

If this is a representative sample of his work, he was a near genius.

The story is gritty and it is real. Some may not like the MC's tactics, but when going to war being nice is for losers.

When real men go to war their keep their eyes on the goal and do what it takes to win.

Remember, real men are men who love their women unselfishly, and protecting them is simply a necessity.

Thanks to the author, who is missed.

Marvelous tale of man and his soon to be castle.

Interesting reaction to the physically proactive stance taken by the MC. All the little brainwashed cucky-cucks lined up to blather the party line. You won't find a single negative statement from any of them regarding a cheating wife slapping her husband, drugging him, tying him to chair, having him beaten down by her bf's bodyguard. Go look: it is not there. They do, of course, espouse "equality", but only when it is unequally applied. Sexual predators must be protected from harm lest they be deterred from their course. Cheating wives must be empowered to steal their honest, hard working husband's life away and paid monthly to steal his future. But touch a woman? That's where they draw the line. And then preen for approval.

It's kind of humorous to me that people are angry at the portrayal of DV here when they have almost no problem with various instances of say, husband being tied up, drugged, beaten, molested, etc when it comes about from their wives cheating on them. I think it says a lot about these people to be honest that a couple of extremely calculated gut punches are somehow worse. The real ironic thing is that they were obviously used with restraint and lack of malice, kind of like how a parent might smack around a misbehaving child - not done in anger, but done with a purpose. I don't think people pause to think that we're not THAT far removed from husbands disciplining their wives by spanking or caning their arses, hell, in some very prominent religions this is still the method used on a wife who is neglecting her role to her husband and family. Hell, it's not even like this only flows in one direction - There is a very popular story in my family of my great Aunt and Uncle, he didn't drink much but when he did he became an angry drunk. About 3 years into their marriage, he came home one night and beat her up pretty good when she was with child. She told her Dad and that night, he and her 2 brothers dragged that Uncle out of bed, stripped him naked and whipped his back and ass until it was raw and bleeding. Told them that if ever touched the bottle and their daughter/sister again that it'd be the last thing he'd do. And you know what... it fucking worked. He gave up drinking, they had 4 more kids and by all accounts a good marriage. Now, I doubt that story bothers anyone... so why does this one? This woman was going to abandon her husband, likely ruin her own life with this creep and give her daughter a broken home. The thing is, it wasn't just these types of actions that caused people to stop fucking around, it was the implicit threat of them - the fear that could act as the counter balance for the lack of respect, the fear that constrained people actions. Sure, it's brutal, but for the vast majority of our history, the human condition was brutal in general. People lived in misery for most of their lives and the stakes for just survival were higher. The thing is - I don't think that it's really changed that much, I think we've just put a thin veneer of "civilization" over the top of human misery because we need it there to distract from the fact that the liberalization of the social contract that has been in place from the Enlightenment causes just as much pain as it grants happiness, maybe even more these days as we continue to destroy whatever few restraints we have on our behaviors. It's something to think about - the idea that everything is a trade off and gains, if they materialize at all, might just be transitory until the recoil happens.
